Ten Day Rehabilitation Program
Gregory Terrace Rehabilitation provides an active interdisciplinary rehabilitation program for the management of back, neck, shoulder and chronic pain conditions.
The program has a strong emphasis on education and self-management.
The Clinical Team consists of an Orthopaedic Surgeon, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Psychologist and Registered Nurse.
It is designed to help you to understand your condition and to manage and minimise your symptoms.
The program is run on a group basis and therefore you will be with other people who are experiencing similar problems to yourself.
Benefits:
- understanding of your condition/diagnosis
- improved fitness
- return to social and sporting activities
- confidence in returning to the workplace
- greater range of coping strategies to manage your stress and pain
- increased self-awareness
The Program:
The program is of two weeks duration - Monday to Friday.
You may attend on a daily basis, or single accommodation can be arranged for you in close proximity to the Centenary Poolside facility. Meals are provided, either in the Restaurant, or if you prefer, you can dine in your room.
The Physiotherapy component of the program is comprised of supervised physical activities which include floor exercises, gym, water aerobics and walking.
A specialist physiotherapist will review patients with shoulder or other complex joint or limb pain. Specific exercises and stretching program/postural advice will be given as indicated.
Our Occupational Therapist will help you with any work-related difficulties as well as instructing you in correct ways to use your body - for example, in relation to lifting and posture, to help minimise pain and increase your independence at home and work.
Our Psychologist will teach you coping strategies to assist you in managing the stress associated with your pain and the effects it often has on your lifestyle - for example, relaxation and stress management.
Our Exercise Physiologist will structure and supervise an exercise program for you during the program. An ongoing program will be prescribed , depending on your needs at the end of the program.
Our Nurse will monitor your general health and provide health education in the area of nutrition and the role of medication.
